1.   How to get to GIM, Ribandar?

Top

By BUS: Goa is connected by bus from states like Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. All buses to Goa stop at Panaji. So if one comes by Bus he or she can get down at Panaji and travel to GIM by road from there.

By
AIR: Goa has only one airport, 'Dabolim Airport', about 25 kms from GIM. Reaching GIM by taxi from the airport should not take more than 40-60 minutes under normal conditions and provided the Zuari Bridge is not closed following which one will have to take a little longer route via Ponda which is another major city in Goa, still the road travel should not be more than 60-70 minutes at the most.

By
TRAIN:  Traveling by The South Central Railway from which one has only two options:
1. Margao
2. Vasco
They are also two Major Cities of Goa and either of the stations are about an hours travel away from The Goa Institute Of Management

Or Traveling by the Konkan Railway route whereby one option grows, One can disembark also at Karmali Apart from Margao and Vasco. Karmali station is about 7 Kms from GIM and so is the closest Railway Station to GIM. Mind you the train halt at Karmali is only about a minute or so And also not all trains stop at the station so it would be advisable to find out whether your train stops at Karmali before hand.

Well friends once you have reached Goa, either by Rail, Road or Air, your next destination will be Goa Institute Of Management. The closest major city is Panaji which is the Capital of Goa. GIM is about 15 minutes from Panaji

Note: Not many people in Goa know about GIM though now they are seeing their folly and waking up to the fact that there is something in their midst that is making its PRESENCE felt. So if for some reason either the taxi driver, bus conductor or for that matter any one does not know where GIM is tell them you want to go to the old hospital (where there is also the post office for Ribandar area and a branch of the corporation bank at Ribandar) and you will see them smile and say "Oh there you should have said so"

CAUTION:
Travel times maybe a wee bit exaggerated to keep you all guessing.

2. What is the climate in Goa like?

Top

The day we all step into the portals of GIM will also be the time when the weather gods will be at their angriest; If all goes well with the monsoons this year, we all should be expecting heavy rains this year in dear old Goa. At the time of writing information Goa has already been hit with the first showers. There are certain preparations that must be met before we land up in Goa during the monsoons.

Clothes: There is hardly anything as uncomfortable as wet jeans sticking to you, except for perhaps cyanide in your throat (from what the movies tell us). And, do 'Rainwear and Umbrellas' ring a bell?

Bikes: If you're getting your bikes here, get them monsoon-ready before they reach the Railway Station. You will need to practice a lot to ride safely on the Monsoon enchanted potholes of Panaji. Bring those Helmets along.

Usually the climatic conditions of Goa are temperate, except during the monsoon, which lasts from June to September. Thanks to the coastal Konkan region and the backdrop of Western Ghats, weather of Goa is pleasant and sunny. There are no extremes in temperature and no clear demarcations from one season to the other except for the monsoon.

The average temperature varies between 25°C - 30°C: So all of you who are coming from the north can forget about your warm woolen clothes and be ready to move around in cool cottons and Jeans

All in all the climate and people in Goa are great and place is very very romantic

Monsoons in Goa is a very beautiful experience especially with slight drizzle hitting you while you are watching the Sunset sitting on the beach under one of the beautiful Coconut trees that dot the coastline of Goa
